The judges for this bout are Yukihiro Yamamoto, Yuuki Gou and Kenichi Hosakawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sapio doesn't succeed with the takedown
and Baez counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Baez wants to land a leg kick but Sapio is out of range.
Sapio tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Baez paws at him with a jab and circles away.
It seemed like Baez was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.

Sapio fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Baez avoids it really well and circles away.
Baez now looks to counter with a shot at the body.

That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Flo Sapio. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Baez connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Sapio momentarily.

Baez feints and then winds up with a huge right hand that connects perfectly and sends Sapio sprawling to the canvas! Sapio rolls over backwards and springs off the cage and manages to regain his footing - how acrobatic! Oh, he's still wobbly - can Baez finish him?!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Baez leaves Sapio with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Oh Sapio is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Sapio wants to clinch up but Baez keeps it at a distance.
Sapio seems to have got his legs back now.
Sapio shoots in for a takedown but Baez shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Sapio is breathing heavily.
Sapio on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.

Baez lands a big uppercut and Sapio crumbles to the floor! The ref thinks about stopping the fight but Sapio looks OK. Baez waves Sapio back to his feet!
Baez changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Baez cracks Sapio with a big right hand that sends him to the floor! Sapio looks wobbly but he's sprung back up to his feet straight away… can Baez finish him?

Sapio drops his hands momentarily. Baez doesn't need a second invitation, landing a shot to the temple. Sapio staggers and falls to the mat and the ref dives in to save him from any more punishment. Sapio doesn't seem happy with the stoppage but he was done.
