Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, David Tua!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Burlington Spatchcock!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, Winston Howard and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tua pushing out the jab but it's not landing.

Spatchcock feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Tua seems keen to control Spatchcock's posture.
Tua is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Spatchcock is trying to control but can't.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Tua decides to stand up.
Spatchcock fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Tua throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Tua throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Tua looks to land a combination but Spatchcock avoids it well.
A head kick misses from Spatchcock.
Spatchcock shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Spatchcock shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Tua as he avoids it easily.
David Tua has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Burlington Spatchcock.
Tua misses with a body kick.
Tua lands a nice hook to Spatchcock's body. Spatchcock takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Spatchcock looks gassed!
Spatchcock is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tua works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.


It looks like Burlington Spatchcock has been cut.
Tua keeps the fight on the outside.
Tua fakes a right and follows up with a big left that drops Spatchcock to one knee - oooooh, he's wobbly! Spatchcock looks to clinch but Tua throws him off and pummels him into the canvas! Spatchcock taps out under the strikes! The fight is over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:02 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Strikes). David Tua!
