The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaw thuds a mid kick into his opponent's body. That will wear on Ryan if he has to take too many more of those.

Shaw bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Ryan is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Shaw has just dragged him back down to the mat.
Ryan is looking to reverse the position.
Ryan is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Shaw off and has taken his back!

Shaw looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Ryan is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Shaw is defending well though. Ryan let's go of the attempt for now.

You can see the frustration on Shaw's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Ryan is working for the choke. He's slipped one arm under the chin. Shaw has to defend the other arm for all he's worth... but Ryan has managed to get that arm free too and he's tightening the choke! Shaw taps out and looks absolutely disgusted with himself. Ryan doesn't care though - he's delighted!
