PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Matt Cooper (ranked 5587 p4p, 3737 weight class) and Kingsley Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 454 weight class). Brown has a niggling injury. He would have liked to come in 100% fit but that's not always possible. Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Matt Cooper!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 14 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kingsley Brown!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Cooper fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Despite the aggression on Brown's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.
A jab from Cooper does it's job there.
Brown needs to keep his hands up - Cooper had a free shot at his head there.
Cooper takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Brown walks into a jab.
Cooper misses with a few strikes there.
Cooper misses with a double jab.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Brown! But no joy.
Both fighters circling a little - Brown finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Brown looks winded!
Cooper connects with a good right hand that stumbles Brown. Brown circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Brown plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Cooper throws a leg kick but Brown sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Cooper throws a wild body kick that Brown sees coming a mile off.
Cooper dips to his left and cracks Brown with an uppercut!
Brown is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Cooper.
Brown bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

A jab lands there for Cooper.
Matt Cooper seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Cooper misses with a looping right.
Brown keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Cooper moves into range and connects with a jab.
Brown avoids the head kick by Cooper.
Cooper throws a big shot that misses.
Cooper throws a leg kick

and Brown counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Brown.
Cooper is pushing Brown up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Brown breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Cooper, as that shot connected.

It looks like Kingsley Brown has been cut.
Brown lands a body shot.
Brown throws a head kick that misses.
Cooper scores with a shot to the body.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Brown takes one to the side of the head.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Cooper connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Brown momentarily.
Good work by Brown as he checks the leg kick.
Cooper throws the left hand but Brown avoids the punch easily.
Cooper backing away here, and Brown unleashes a leg kick that just misses.
Cooper misses the jab.
A little jabbing left from Brown on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Cooper goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Cooper dips to his left and cracks Brown with an uppercut!
Cooper scores with a decent looking hook.

Brown is rocked!
A good leg kick by Cooper.
Brown is still on wobbly legs! Can Cooper finish him?
Brown misses with a series of wild punches.
Brown seems to have recovered his senses.
Cooper with a nice cross.
Cooper misses with a looping left.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Brown moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Cooper circles and sees the opportunity to plant his feet and throw a really nice straight left hand that drops Brown to the canvas! Brown doesn't know where he is but he's trying to survive - Cooper keeps piling on the pressure and forces the referee to step in! This one is aaaaaall over!
