PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Abono Akebono (ranked 4331 p4p, 4347 weight class) and Stanislaw Bednarski (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Bednarski has chosen KAS:ST - Hell On Earth as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Stanislaw Bednarski!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, Frank Antenori and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bednarski throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Akebono shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Bednarski defends it nicely.
Bednarski keeps Akebono at a distance using the push kick.
Akebono throws a low kick but Bednarski avoids it.
Akebono tries to bum rush Bednarski with a series of wild strikes but Bednarski uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Bednarski throws a nice looking combination but Akebono bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Akebono wants to land a leg kick but Bednarski is out of range.
Stanislaw Bednarski seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bednarski throws a right and a left that both miss.

and Akebono counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Bednarski is trying to maintain the position but Akebono is very close to passing his half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Akebono is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Akebono is stalling here. Bednarski is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Akebono seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Bednarski has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Bednarski has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Akebono's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Bednarski is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Akebono is controlling him.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Akebono perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Akebono is trying to control. Bednarski wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Akebono breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bednarski wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Akebono has him pressed against the cage.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Bednarski's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Bednarski fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
It looked like Akebono was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Akebono tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Bednarski shapes like he's going to throw a leg kick but settles back down.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Abono Akebono dominated that second round.
That's time! Akebono's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Bednarski lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Akebono circles away quickly and effectively.

Abono Akebono overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Bednarski takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Akebono misses with an attempted head punch from side control.
