PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Khunbish Borjigin (ranked 3421 p4p, 4185 weight class) and Bill Goldberg (ranked 422 p4p, 507 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 30 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Khunbish Borjigin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 21 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Bill Goldberg!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Colin Fotheringham and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goldberg waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Borjigin.
Goldberg fails with a takedown attempt.

Goldberg bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Borjigin dodges the ground and pound from Goldberg.
Borjigin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Goldberg wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Goldberg is trying to ground and pound but Borjigin uses the momentary lack of control by Goldberg to regain half guard.
Borjigin won't allow Goldberg to pass to mount.
Borjigin is trying to maintain the position but Goldberg is very close to passing his half guard.
Goldberg thows a huge punch but Borjigin dodges it nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Borjigin tries to roll over but Goldberg keeps him under control.

It looks like Khunbish Borjigin has been cut.
Borjigin is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Shadow Warriors (KT), so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Borjigin has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Goldberg is working away from the top position though.
Borjigin might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Khunbish Borjigin's cut is getting worse.
Borjigin is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Goldberg's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Goldberg's back!

Borjigin thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.
Goldberg is trying to get back to his feet but Borjigin has full control of the position and if anything, Goldberg has just worked his way into a worse spot.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Borjigin thows a huge left but connects with the canvas and not his opponent.

Goldberg defends a rear naked choke attempt by controlling one of Borjigin's arms.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Borjigin is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Goldberg is defending well though. Borjigin let's go of the attempt for now.

Goldberg is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Borjigin gets his way!

Goldberg is trying to get back to his feet but he's not managed it yet.

Borjigin wants to control but Goldberg manages to buck him off and is now in Borjigin's guard! Nice work there by Goldberg!

That was a close round but I would say that Khunbish Borjigin will probably get the nod.

That's time! Borjigin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Goldberg is trying hard to land a takedown here. Borjigin sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Borjigin steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Goldberg. That one must have hurt.

Khunbish Borjigin's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.

Borjigin buckles his opponent's knee momentarily with a nice leg kick.
Goldberg swings for the body but Borjigin moves out of range.
Borjigin takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Borjigin misses with a wild body shot.
Borjigin is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Goldberg.
Goldberg lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Borjigin keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Goldberg.

Goldberg throws a series of punches but Borjigin moves out of range.
Goldberg shoots in looking for a takedown but Borjigin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Goldberg's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
It looked like Borjigin was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
A punch combination from Goldberg misses.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goldberg moves out of range as Borjigin throws a body kick.
Goldberg lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Borjigin at a distance.
Borjigin connects with an inside leg kick.
Goldberg throws a lazy uppercut
and Borjigin counters with a three punch combo that has Goldberg backing up. Goldberg nods at Borjigin to acknowledge the strikes.

Goldberg avoids the head kick by Borjigin.
Borjigin throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Goldberg goes for a double leg but Borjigin avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Borjigin continues to drive forward.
Borjigin looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Khunbish Borjigin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bill Goldberg.

Borjigin stuffs the takedown attempt from Goldberg. Goldberg gets slowly back to his feet.
Goldberg on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Khunbish Borjigin is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Jeez, Khunbish Borjigin's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.

Borjigin throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Goldberg.
Goldberg cracks Borjigin with a nice right hand that draws applause from the crowd.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Khunbish Borjigin's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:56 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Bill Goldberg!
Bill Goldberg really struggled to get his t-shirt on before his hand was raised. Making sure that Altitude Clothing logo gets some air time is pretty tricky when you're all sweaty.
