PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rich Goins (ranked 4743 p4p, 23799 weight class) and Jeremy Clarkson (ranked 549 p4p, 627 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rich Goins!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Jeremy Clarkson!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, Tiny Johnson and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Clarkson is looking to clinch.
Goins feinted with a counter takedown.
Goins keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Clarkson pushes Goins up against the cage in a clinch.

Clarkson breaks from the clinch.
Clarkson tries to clinch but Goins moves out of range.
Clarkson tries to close the distance and clinch up but Goins swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Goins looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.
Clarkson shoots for a double leg takedown but Goins sprawls well. He's pushed Clarkson's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Goins shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Goins was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Goins is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Clarkson is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Clarkson felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Clarkson is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Goins is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Clarkson knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Goins shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Clarkson manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.

Goins stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Clarkson swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Clarkson has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Goins can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Clarkson closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Clarkson doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

Goins appears to be looking for a counter takedown.

Clarkson will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Goins is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Clarkson gets his way!

Clarkson is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Goins defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Clarkson keeps control of the position as Goins tries to break free.

Goins is desperately trying to improve his position but Clarkson has a good base and remains in mount.

Clarkson looking for a guillotine from mount but Goins is having none of it.
Clarkson can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Goins is looking to escape.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Clarkson is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Goins to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Goins shrugs it off.

I think Clarkson has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
