Lawrence has chosen Bad Bromance as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Bryan Lawrence has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lawrence looks for a takedown but Alves sprawls well.
Alves shoots and misses

and Lawrence counters by clinching up.
Alves working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.
Alves gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Lawrence.
Alves has Lawrence pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Lawrence manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Alves is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Lawrence pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Lawrence wants to lay and pray for a moment but Alves keeps working.

Alves wants to control but Lawrence is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Lawrence pulls out of a head kick attempt.

Lawrence gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

and Alves counters with a takedown into side control.

Lawrence tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Alves presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Alves trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Lawrence should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Alves prevents Lawrence from getting the reversal.

Lawrence defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Alves.

Alves goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Lawrence turns into him and now he's in Alves's guard.

Lawrence swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Alves avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
