Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ali Dixon (ranked 2187 p4p, 2573 weight class) and Kazuki Takeda (ranked 318 p4p, 365 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ali Dixon!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Kazuki Takeda!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Jack Bonds and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Dixon throws a right hand that Takeda ducks under and follows up with a left that Takeda also avoids with ease.
Kazuki Takeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Takeda slips a straight right by Dixon.
Dixon throws a lazy uppercut
and Takeda cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Takeda shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Dixon's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Takeda seems to be working for a kimura but Dixon defends the submission attempt.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Takeda working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Takeda is nestled in close to Dixon, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Dixon is trying to maintain the position but Takeda is very close to passing his half guard.

Takeda looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Takeda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dixon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Dixon wants to get back to full guard.
Dixon is working hard here to advance position.
Dixon is trying to maintain the position but Takeda is very close to passing his half guard.
Takeda throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Takeda looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Dixon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Takeda lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

Takeda manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dixon manages to get himself to full guard.

Dixon utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Takeda with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
Takeda postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Takeda is working Dixon over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Dixon lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Takeda is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Takeda is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Takeda throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Dixon works some decent striking defense from the bottom.
Takeda has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Takeda is in close to Dixon's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Takeda's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

Takeda passes Dixon's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Takeda slips a nice elbow through Dixon's hands, connecting with Dixon's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Takeda is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Dixon is looking for a sweep. Takeda is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Dixon wants to control but Takeda is keeping busy.

Takeda is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Takeda looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Dixon is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Takeda scores with a couple of nice shots.
Takeda wants to pass to mount but Dixon is defending the position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Takeda dives in for a single leg takedown but Dixon sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Dixon went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Dixon scores with a one two! Takeda had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Dixon moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Dixon walks into a straight right hand from Takeda.
Takeda swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Takeda has Dixon up against the cage in a clinch.

Takeda jumps into guard, dragging Dixon to the mat.

Takeda is looking for a triangle but Dixon pushes his legs off easily.
Takeda manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Dixon manages to get himself to full guard.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Takeda is fighting to break Dixon's control of his arms but Dixon is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Dixon knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Takeda on the ground.

Dixon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Takeda scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Dixon to see if he's OK.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Takeda might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Dixon haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Dixon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Takeda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Dixon has managed to get both his arms back between Takeda's legs - danger averted.

Takeda drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Takeda jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kazuki Takeda showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Dixon swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Dixon throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Takeda fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Dixon was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Takeda creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Takeda tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Takeda jumps guard but Dixon turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Takeda wants to sweep but no luck.

Dixon stays in close to Takeda's body and controls the position.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

Takeda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Dixon doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Dixon manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Dixon moves into full mount! Takeda won't be happy about that!
Takeda is working to get back to half guard.
Takeda sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Ali Dixon has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
A looping hook to the body misses from Dixon. Takeda does a little dance to reset his feet.
Dixon lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Takeda circles away quickly and effectively.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Ali Dixon.
I think Takeda has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
