Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Barnabas Ungar (ranked 1735 p4p, 2637 weight class) and Medieval Mercenary (ranked 225 p4p, 336 weight class). Ungar comes to the cage accompanied by Wolf Totem. Barnabas Ungar could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Medieval Mercenary's chin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

and Ungar counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
I was talking to Ungar's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Mercenary is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Ungar is defending well for now.
Mercenary lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Ungar backwards.

Ungar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Mercenary is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Mercenary is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Ungar asserts his dominance and retains side control.

Ungar tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Ungar has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Mercenary takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Ungar has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Ungar goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Mercenary has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Ungar but great work by Mercenary.

Mercenary stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Ungar goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Ungar takes the fight into the clinch.

With the fighters clinched against the cage, Ungar creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.

The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Ungar's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Both fighters circling a little - Mercenary finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.

Ungar closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Mercenary sneaks out the side door and pushes Ungar away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.
No luck for Ungar with that takedown attempt.

Mercenary lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Ungar circles away quickly and effectively.

Mercenary connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Ungar or perhaps it was just good defense by Mercenary, which made it look bad.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Ungar shoots in for a double leg but Mercenary sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
