PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Baki Hanma (ranked 3249 p4p, 5054 weight class) and Danny Sullivan (ranked 309 p4p, 419 weight class). Hanma comes into the arena with B-Complex - Beautiful Lies blaring out of the sound system. Sullivan has chosen The Pogues - Streams of Whiskey as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Don Winkell and Percy O'Donnell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sullivan connects with a high kick.
Hanma misses with a looping left.
Hanma throws a poor cross that misses
and Sullivan counters with a nice body kick.

Hanma moves into the clinch.
A short left from Hanma.
Hanma misses with a punch on the inside.
Sullivan looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A head punch on the inside from Hanma fails to land.
Hanma swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Sullivan tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Hanma just stands there and leans against the cage.

Sullivan's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Sullivan shoots in for a takedown and gets it.

Hanma is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Sullivan pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Sullivan is not going to allow Hanma to sit and survive in this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

and Sullivan counters with a stiff right hand.
A looping hook to the body misses from Hanma. Sullivan does a little dance to reset his feet.
Sullivan takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Hanma lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Hanma loads up on a big right hand but Sullivan slips the punch.
Sullivan has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Hanma misses with a left hand
and Sullivan counters with a lovely straight right hand!

It looks like Baki Hanma has been cut.
Sullivan uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hanma.
Hanma has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.

Hanma tries to sprawl but Sullivan drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Hanma is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Sullivan has his hands clasped together but Hanma extends and breaks Sullivan's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Hanma.

A less than humble Baki Hanma misjudged his post fight interview somewhat and came across a little too arrogant whilst trying to hype up his own abilities.
