PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Noeigati (ranked 4122 p4p, 3941 weight class) and Allan Preston (ranked 495 p4p, 483 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Noeigati might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Cremation of Sam McGee. I don't know about you partner, but I'm pumped for this one!

The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Dean Styles and Steve Montenegro.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Noeigati rushes Preston and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Noeigati misses with a short punch on the inside.
Noeigati makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Preston has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
With the two fighters working up against the cage, Noeigati just misses with a elbow thrown towards Preston's brow.
Noeigati is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Noeigati throws a punch but it's blocked by Preston.
Noeigati tries to land a knee to the head but Preston blocks with his arms.
Noeigati swings wildly with an uppercut but Preston uses good head movement to avoid it.

I was talking to Noeigati's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.

Preston jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Noeigati walks away with a smile on his face. Preston gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Benjamin Noeigati has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Allan Preston.
Preston looks for the body kick but Noeigati saw that one coming.

and Noeigati counters with a crisp one two that drops Preston! Noeigati thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Preston to his feet! Preston is in big trouble!

Preston turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Preston manages to end up in side control.
Noeigati tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Preston wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Noeigati is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
