Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mark Jones (ranked 2987 p4p, 4055 weight class) and Gorgi Boran (ranked 381 p4p, 493 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Mark Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Gorgi Boran !
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Phil Schofield and James Ackerman.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Boran scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

It looks like Mark Jones has been cut.
Boran lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Jones circles away quickly and effectively.
Jones misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Boran throws a head kick that misses.
It looked like Jones wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Boran blocks a leg kick.
Boran dives in for a single leg takedown but Jones sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

and Boran counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Jones shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Boran but Boran pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Jones ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Boran moves away.

Boran drives through and clinches with Jones against the cage.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Boran escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Jones throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.

Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.

Boran forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.
Boran is pushing Jones up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.

Boran has clasped his hands together around Jones's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.

Boran is looking to take a break and control but Jones is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Boran stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Jones swivels though and keeps the full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Jones bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Boran wants to get back to his feet but Jones is dominant here and he's now got Boran 's back!

Boran escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Jones gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Horrible takedown attempt by Boran or perhaps it was just good defense by Jones, which made it look bad.

We've been told by Jones's head coaches at Aloha MMA that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.

Boran walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Boran tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Jones manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Jones throws a big counter combination but Boran scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Boran throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
The fight stays on the outside here - Boran looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jones is scooting his butt against the cage and has managed to get back to his feet. Boran presses him back against the cage, presumably looking to take the fight back to the mat.
