PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chris Toanesti (ranked 1922 p4p, 2205 weight class) and Amsterdam Boy (ranked 66 p4p, 75 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Chris Toanesti has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Chris Toanesti seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Toanesti!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Amsterdam Boy!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, James Ackerman and Steven Brown.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boy misses with an uppercut
and Toanesti counters with an outside leg kick.
A decent looking cross lands there for Toanesti.
Toanesti misses with a left hand
letting Boy counter with a right hand.
Boy's jab looks to have found its range, popping Toanesti under the eye.
Boy ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
A little jabbing left from Boy on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Toanesti misses with a body kick.
Toanesti misses with a looping right.
Boy is looking to clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Boy has taken the fight to the clinch.
Toanesti goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Toanesti blocks a body shot from Boy.

Boy doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Boy misses with a punch to the body.
A head punch blocked on the inside by Toanesti.
Boy tries to work over Toanesti's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Toanesti turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!
Boy is trying to get back to half guard.
Boy seems a little lost for a moment, as Toanesti dominates the positioning.
Toanesti seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Boy for as long as he can get away with.

Toanesti has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
No joy there for Toanesti, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Boy connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Toanesti's hands.
Toanesti lands with a good body shot.
Toanesti moves away from the strike by Boy.
Boy's coach down at Punch Out Gym was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Boy's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Toanesti throws a nice looking combination but Boy bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
It seemed like Boy was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Boy takes a jab right on the kisser.
Toanesti throws a body kick that misses
and Boy counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Amsterdam Boy is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Boy scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.

Boy gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Toanesti has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Boy regains guard immediately.
Boy wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Toanesti manages to pass to side control.

Boy is looking to control Toanesti's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Boy avoid being mounted?

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Toanesti is taking a breather. Boy says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Toanesti uses his free foot to push down on Boy's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Boy.
Toanesti content just to control the position here.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Toanesti lands a big right hand that sends Boy crashing to the mat! Toanesti stays standing though and waves Boy back to his feet!

Toanesti ducks under a wild hook from Boy.
A quick step to the side and Toanesti tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Toanesti digs a good body shot into Boy's ribs.
Toanesti tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Boy was well out of range. Poor timing from Toanesti.
Toanesti misses the shot to the body.
Boy swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Toanesti works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Toanesti is throwing punches like he's double parked. Oh my word! Huge right hand from Toanesti shuts the power down on Boy. Lights out, game over! Toanesti is your winner.
