PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Pierre Leblanc (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Lorne Mica (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Leblanc comes to the cage accompanied by dirty house. Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mica closes the distance and pushes Leblanc back into the cage.
Leblanc looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Leblanc wants to break free but Mica has control.

Leblanc escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mica is looking to clinch.
Lorne Mica seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Leblanc scores with a head kick.

Mica drives through with a takedown into guard.
Mica prevents Leblanc from getting back to his feet.

Leblanc is looking to stand up but Mica isn't so interested in that idea.

Mica connects with a couple of short punches.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Mica fails to land the takedown.
Leblanc scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Mica tries to clinch up.

Mica gets a takedown into half guard.
Mica stops Leblanc from getting back to his feet.

Leblanc trying desperately to get back to his feet here but he's not having any joy at all. He's going to tire himself out if he's not careful.

Mica seems to be looking for submissions.

Mica is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Leblanc kicks Mica off and gets back to his feet.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Mica pulls guard effortlessly.
Mica wants to sweep but no luck.
Leblanc would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Mica is edging up against the cage. He's using the cage to get back to his feet. Nice work there - the fighters are clinched.

Leblanc breaks from the clinch.
Leblanc looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Leblanc shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mica's guard.
Mica is trying to keep Leblanc in close.

Mica escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Leblanc gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Leblanc has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Leblanc stands and steps away. Mica gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Mica tries to pull guard but Leblanc won't allow it.

That was a close round but I would say that Pierre Leblanc will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Mica misses with a takedown

and Leblanc counters with a nice double leg into half guard.
Mica tries to get to full guard but Leblanc has control of the leg.
Mica is looking to control Leblanc's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Mica avoid being mounted?
Mica moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Mica is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Mica is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Mica has a closed guard, preventing Leblanc from standing up.
Mica manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leblanc manages to get himself to full guard.
Leblanc knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Mica on the ground.

Mica drops back looking for a leg! Leblanc is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Leblanc manages to kick Mica off! Mica jumps back into Leblanc's guard.

Mica passes Leblanc's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Mica is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Leblanc squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Mica looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.

Mica working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Leblanc turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Mica off and cradles Leblanc's limp body as Mica celebrates with his corner.
