Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hyun Jun Choi!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Shimada and Shigeki Fujiwara.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes blocks a jab.
Choi takes a swing at Barnes's ribcage but misses.

Choi parries the strikes from Barnes easily there. Barnes is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Choi to escape.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barnes misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

Choi felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Even with his hooks in, Barnes manages to miss with strikes from the back.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.

Barnes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Choi swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Choi has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

Choi is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Barnes is controlling him.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Barnes accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Barnes clobbers Choi with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Hyun Jun Choi is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Choi lands a leg kick that knocks Barnes off balance momentarily.
Choi feints a jab promting Barnes to slip. Choi then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Barnes slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Barnes, as that shot connected.

Choi unleashes a big counter combination but Barnes bobs and weaves and avoids any damage.
Hyun Jun Choi seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Hyun Jun Choi was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
