Jones is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Alice in Chains - Them Bones. Frank Mir could well score a knockout today. He has the power to get to Joseph Jones's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Mir!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 13 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Joseph Jones!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Alec Ball and Dillan Fox.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mir thows a body shot but no joy.
Mir is looking to clinch but Jones is avoiding it.
Jones swats away the attempt to clinch by Mir.
Jones uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Mir.
Mir tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.
Jones misses with a hook. Mir ducked under it nicely.
Mir fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Mir misses the shot to the body.
Jones falls off balance throwing a combination

and Mir counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Jones's guard now.
Mir trying to control the position from guard on top but Jones is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Mir. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Mir trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.
Mir trying to control but Jones is working from the bottom.
Jones wants to stand up but Mir is controlling him.

Mir pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Jones is keeping the position for now.

Mir drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Jones dives on top into guard.
Jones is looking to stand up but Mir won't let him.

Mir has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Jones is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Mir.

Jones stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Joseph Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jones lands a body shot.
Jones misses with a straight right.

Mir drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.

Mir looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.
Mir tries to advance to mount but Jones denies him.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.

Mir thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Mir is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jones has escaped the position, nice work there.

Mir tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Mir has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Jones tries to get back to half guard but can't.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.

Mir is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Jones knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Jones is looking to get back to his feet here but Mir is keeping cool and he's managed to take Jones's back.
Jones controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jones tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Jones fails to land with a series of punches.
Jones throws a series of punches but Mir avoids them all with ease.
Mir uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Jones has time to react.
Mir just misses with a punch to the body.
Mir fails with an attempt to clinch.
Jones uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Mir.

Mir takes the fight into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mir trying to control the position but instead, Jones has worked for underhooks and has pushed Mir into the cage.

Jones escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Mir lunges at Jones with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jones's hand.

Jones avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Mir scores with a crisp jab that stopped Jones in his tracks.

Jones looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Frank Mir seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Mir shoots in for a double leg but Jones sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Mir tries to clinch up but Jones circles away and keeps his distance.

It looks like Frank Mir has been cut.
Jones lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Mir at a distance.

Jones misses with a double jab.
Mir has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Jones finds it's way round the side to connect with Mir's head.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Jones punishes Mir's body with a nice straight punch.

Mir closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Jones is looking to control Mir's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Jones avoid being mounted?

Mir looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Mir stops Jones from getting back to his feet.

Mir wants to work for an arm triangle but Jones is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Jones is trying to stand.

Mir is trying to work for a kimura but Jones is defending well.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Jones tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Mir counters with a stiff right hand.
Jones connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Mir's hands.
Mir checks a leg kick nicely.
Joseph Jones seems to be getting the better of the standup.
A nice combination there by Jones.
Jones misses with a few strikes there.
Jones keeps the fight on the outside.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Jones moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.

Mir fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Mir persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Joseph Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The cut man is working on Frank Mir's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Jones works over Mir's head and body with a nice combination.

Mir forces Jones back against the cage and clinches.
Mir is trying to maintain a safe position but Jones gets an underhook and turns Mir into the cage.
Jones wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Jones breaks the clinch.
Jones pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Mir misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jones takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

Jones throws a right and a left that both miss.
Jones tries to bum rush Mir with a series of wild strikes but Mir uses good footwork to avoid the assault.

and Mir counters with a nice body shot.

Mir darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones is trying to stand up here but Mir is controlling him well.
Jones takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Mir is looking for a kimura here.
Jones wants to get back to his feet.

Mir frees up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

Mir is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Jones is surviving well by controlling Mir's body position as best he can.
Jones trying desperately to get to his feet.

Mir throwing shots from mount but they're not landing.
Mir is landing with some decent strikes but Jones is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Mir looking for an armbar but decides to keep the dominant position instead.
Mir throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Jones defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Mir.

Mir jumps to the side looking to secure the arm triangle…. Ooooh, that looks tight… Jones is gargling but he's managed to escape! Nice work there by Jones and Mir has given up the dominant position trying to land that submission.
Jones wants to get back to his feet but Mir drags him back down.
Frank Mir overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Mir has an Americana. Jones didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Mir is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Mir hooks up with any of them at the after show party.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:43 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Frank Mir!
