PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Bobby Mercer (ranked 1986 p4p, 2827 weight class) and Mathew Hayes (ranked 211 p4p, 290 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Mercer might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Why Can't We Be Friends by WAR. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mercer misses with a body kick.
Mercer tries to bum rush Hayes with a series of wild strikes but Hayes uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Hayes appeared to try and counter that last move with a leg kick.
Mercer tries to move into range but Hayes moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Hayes with a hook.

It looks like Bobby Mercer has been cut.
Hayes sizes up Mercer with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
Mercer dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Mercer lands a nice looking body kick.
Mercer lands a nice looking kick to the body. Hayes takes a step back to recover.
No joy there for Mercer, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hayes moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Mercer tries a head kick but it misses.
Mercer throws the kick towards the body but Hayes avoids it.
A countering left hand to the body from Hayes misses.
Mercer lands a nice shot to the body.
Hayes has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.
A lazy left from Mercer finds it's target.
The fighters circle, before Mercer throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Hayes's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Mercer lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!
