Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Rickson Silva (ranked 1284 p4p, 777 weight class) and Frank Diaz (ranked 194 p4p, 114 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 15 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Rickson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Frank Diaz!
The judges for this bout are Ron Honeybunn, Damien Edna and Summer Carpenter.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva thows a leg kick but Diaz checks it
and Diaz counters with a stiff right hand.
Diaz misses with a takedown attempt - Silva sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Diaz comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
Silva takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

Diaz throws a looping overhand right but Silva ducks down to avoid it.
Silva gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Diaz is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.

Silva tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Diaz is able to avoid easily.

Silva was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

Diaz misses with an uppercut. Silva saw that one coming.
Silva tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Diaz swivels and escapes.
Diaz cracks Silva with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Silva throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Diaz's waist but Diaz gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Silva off to one side.

Diaz feints and as Silva raises his hands in defense, Diaz changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Silva is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
My spies in The Rubber Guard Emporium inform me that Diaz has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Silva is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Horrible takedown attempt by Diaz or perhaps it was just good defense by Silva, which made it look bad.
Silva throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Diaz feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Silva escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Diaz gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Silva has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Diaz can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Diaz got a little sloppy there for a moment and Silva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Diaz has managed to get both his arms back between Silva's legs - danger averted.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That's time! Silva's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Diaz connects with a good right hand that stumbles Silva. Silva circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Diaz wants to lay and pray for a moment but Silva keeps working.
We've been hearing good reports from Silva's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Well Diaz has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Frank Diaz made sure he remembered to thank all the fans both in the arena and on the internet. He said all the coolest people spend all day on MMA websites, which got a big reaction.
In defeat, Rickson Silva stepped up to the mic, saying 'una derrota no significa fracaso, significa pararte y comenzar otra ves con mas fuerzas.'.
