Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Michael Barnes (ranked 2999 p4p, 3658 weight class) and Jon Rambo (ranked 290 p4p, 331 weight class). This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Michael Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Jon Rambo!
The judges for this bout are Johanna Lukiainen, Ben Zyskovitsi and Arvi Lind.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barnes works the jab nicely.
Barnes clobbers Rambo with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Rambo misses with a leg kick

and Barnes counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Barnes stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rambo swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Barnes trying to control but Rambo is working from the bottom.
Barnes is really struggling to control Rambo but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Rambo is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Barnes is controlling him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Barnes wants to pass the guard but Rambo is keeping the position.
Rambo tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Barnes forces his way into half guard.
Rambo has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Barnes is working away from the top position though.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes lands strikes from half guard.
Barnes has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
Barnes seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Rambo does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Barnes looks to land a strike but Rambo avoids it nicely and regains full guard.

Barnes looking to sit in guard and control but Rambo gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Barnes is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Rambo is refusing to be controlled, as Barnes sits in half guard.
Barnes looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Barnes is pressing down on Rambo's thigh, looking to free his foot. Rambo is holding on for now.
Barnes wants to control but Rambo is keeping him busy.

Rambo is trying to maintain the position but Barnes is very close to passing his half guard.

Rambo on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Barnes lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Barnes trying to mount his opponent but Rambo defends it.
Barnes lands with a punch from half guard.
Rambo tries to get to full guard but Barnes has control of the leg.

Barnes is working for a kimura but Rambo is defending it quite comfortably.
Rambo has found himself in a tricky position here. He's been working his transitions in training so let's see if he can work his way out of it.
Barnes is looking to stall here but Rambo recovers full guard.
Barnes postures up in Rambo's guard and throws a big left but Rambo blocks it.

Barnes throws a strike but Rambo rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


Barnes looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Barnes is looking to sweep but instead, Rambo has passed into half guard.
Barnes is in trouble now - Rambo has advanced to mount!
Barnes bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Barnes scores with a decent looking elbow strike.
Barnes wants to control from the top but Rambo keeps moving.
Rambo not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Barnes lands a really nice looking cross but Rambo seems unphased.
Barnes digs a good hook to Rambo's body.
Barnes moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
A decent looking cross lands there for Barnes.
Rambo fails with the takedown.
Rambo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Nice uppercut lands for Barnes. That snapped Rambo's head back.
Jon Rambo is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Barnes ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
A jab from Barnes does it's job there.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Rambo walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.

Rambo fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Barnes avoids it really well and circles away.
Rambo tries to clinch up.
Barnes tries to counter with a takedown but Rambo is quick to defend against it.
Rambo uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Barnes.
Rambo slips under a jab.

Rambo feints and as Barnes raises his hands in defense, Rambo changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Barnes uses the cage to get back to his feet.
Rambo is breathing heavily.
Rambo gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Barnes counters with a shot to the ribs. That looked like it hurt.
Michael Barnes has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jon Rambo.
Rambo has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Rambo there as he acknowledges the shot.
Barnes uses good footwork to get in and out, landing a nice hook.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Barnes feints and then cracks Rambo's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Rambo down.

Barnes lands a body shot.
Barnes lands the left hand.
Barnes uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Rambo has time to react.
Rambo misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Barnes lands a nice leg kick that just misses Rambo's sensitive parts.

Barnes gets the takedown into side control.
Rambo is looking to reverse the position.
Barnes wants to lay and pray for a moment but Rambo keeps working.
Barnes working away diligently from side control. Landing strikes effectively there - that will score him some points on the judges scorecards.

Rambo takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
Barnes wants to control but Rambo is keeping him busy.

Barnes working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Barnes looking to punish the body of his opponent here but Rambo is avoiding damage well.
Michael Barnes overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Barnes is trying to get an arm triangle but Rambo is defending well.
Rambo is looking for a sweep.

Barnes lands an elbow.
Barnes throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Rambo works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Barnes is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Rambo has hold of Barnes's hands but Barnes slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
Barnes has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Barnes fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!
Barnes is in the full mount, landing strikes.

Rambo is rocked!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Barnes postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Rambo in real trouble here! The ref calls for Rambo to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!
