The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck for Phaneuf with that takedown attempt.
A head kick misses from St Pierre.

Phaneuf keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

and St Pierre counters with a big head kick but Phaneuf shrugs it off.
Phaneuf closes this distance looking for a takedown but St Pierre circles away.

Georges St Pierre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dion Phaneuf.

Phaneuf throws an overhand right that lands on St Pierre's shoulder, as St Pierre tries to avoid the shot.
Phaneuf changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. St Pierre tries to avoid it but Phaneuf manages to keep hold of a leg and drag St Pierre to the ground. St Pierre escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
