The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice uppercut there from Savage.
The fighters circling - Hammer throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Savage looks to score with a jab to the body but Hammer is just out of range.
Savage lands a jab to the nose.
Hammer should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Hammer shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Savage napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Savage is trying to improve his position.
Hammer really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Savage. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Hammer controlling the position.
Hammer landing strikes.
Savage is looking for a sweep.
Hammer trying to control the position but Savage is working away.
The referee asks Hammer politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Hammer prefers to stall for the moment though.

Hammer's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Hammer looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Savage struggling a bit here.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
Savage can't do much from the bottom here.

Savage wants to control but Hammer is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Hammer slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Savage not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Hammer trying to control but Savage is working from the bottom.

Savage looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Hammer passes into side control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Savage is trying to control Hammer's posture but Hammer avoids it.
Savage tries to buck Hammer off but Hammer is having none of it.
Hammer grinds an elbow into Savage's temple.
Savage is looking for a sweep.
Savage is working hard here to advance position.
Hammer works to advance to full mount. Savage defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

Hammer with shots to the head and body - Savage looks very uncomfortable down there.

Well, if Hammer is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
It looks like Hammer might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Savage is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Hammer's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Hammer's back!

Hammer throws a front kick aimed at Savage's knee but Savage avoids it well.
Hammer throws a nice looking combination but Savage bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

and Savage counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

Savage gets tackled into the cage by Hammer. Hammer maintains the clinch.
Savage can't break the clinch.
Hammer lands a right hand.

Hammer gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Savage wants to control but Hammer is keeping busy.
Savage is pressing down on Hammer's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Savage looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Hammer is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Savage is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Hammer stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Savage swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Hammer controls from within his opponent's guard.

Savage pushes a forearm under Hammer's chin to create some space. He's escaped his hips and pivoted quickly for an armbar! Can he extend the arm? Yes, Hammer is tapping out! Damn, that was fast!
