Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Elam Armis (ranked 2153 p4p, 1358 weight class) and Darren Weeks (ranked 277 p4p, 189 weight class). Darren Weeks is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Elam Armis!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Darren Weeks!
The judges for this bout are Percy O'Donnell, Timothy Bukovac and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Weeks has Armis up against the cage in a clinch.

Weeks turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Weeks manages to end up in side control.
Armis is holding Weeks down, trying to stall.
The strikes coming from Weeks are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Armis defending against the ground and pound.
Weeks throws a strike aimed at the side of Armis's head but Armis avoids it well.
Weeks throwing ground and pound but whilst doing so, he forgets to control position and Armis works his way back to half guard. Good composure under pressure.
Weeks missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Weeks throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Weeks not landing any meaningful shots this time.

Armis wants to get back to full guard.

Weeks is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
Armis pushes Weeks off looking to stand but Weeks dives back in and keeps control.
Weeks thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Armis's head.
Armis is trying to maintain the position but Weeks is very close to passing his half guard.
Weeks throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Armis keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
Weeks has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
Weeks throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Armis blocking the ground and pound attempt from Weeks.
Weeks working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Weeks thows a huge punch but Armis dodges it nicely.
Armis avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Weeks.

Weeks prevents Armis from standing back up.
Armis is trying to defend against the ground and pound but Weeks scores with a couple of nice shots.
Weeks looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Armis with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Weeks not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Weeks thows a huge punch but Armis dodges it nicely.
Weeks thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Armis wants to get back to full guard.
Weeks scoring with strikes to the body and head.

Weeks sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Armis defending well though.
Weeks is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Weeks connects with a nice short shot to Armis's temple.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Weeks lands a nice short elbow.

Armis is rocked!
Armis blocking the ground and pound attempt from Weeks.
Oh Armis is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Weeks drops an elbow to the side of Armis's head.
Weeks works his way into full mount!
Weeks postures up and throws a couple of big shots that have Armis in real trouble here! The ref calls for Armis to improve his position which he doesn't do, so the referee has no choice but to end the fight due to the strikes!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:56 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Darren Weeks!
An out of breath Darren Weeks thanked his loyal fans in his post fight interview, giving them credit for his success over the course of his career.
The defeated Elam Armis had this to say: 'This one didn't go my way but I will be back!'.
