Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benjamin Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chris Zarch (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Chris Zarch will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Benjamin Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Chris Zarch!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, James Ackerman and Sam Margolis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zarch keeps the fight on the outside.
Zarch shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Smith but Smith pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Smith closes the distance and clinches.
Smith tries for a takedown but Zarch manages to get underhooks.

Zarch decides to pull guard.
Zarch keeping moving, preventing Smith from controlling successfully.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Zarch escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Smith gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Smith wants to control from the top but Zarch keeps moving.
Smith might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Smith with a flurry of punches that miss.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Smith keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Zarch's head.
Zarch really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Zarch working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.
Smith is pushing down on Zarch's leg trying to pass to half guard. Zarch is fighting to maintain full guard but Smith has managed to sneak the leg through.
Zarch wants to get back to full guard but Smith has mounted him!

Smith has control of Zarch's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Zarch regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Zarch tries to buck Smith off but he can't manage it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Smith wants to control the pace but Zarch is squirming around nicely.
Smith has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Zarch is trying to stand.
Zarch is wriggling around trying to escape.
Smith tries to control but Zarch wriggling away.
Smith lands a big elbow.
Zarch in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.

Zarch tries to improve his position but Smith has taken his back! Smith has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Zarch tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Smith pushes Zarch away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:50 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Benjamin Smith!
