These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alfonseca shoots in but no luck this time.
ONeill throws a right hand that Alfonseca ducks under and follows up with a left that Alfonseca also avoids with ease.
Alfonseca slips a jab from ONeill.
A swing and a miss from Alfonseca.
Alfonseca will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
ONeill smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Alfonseca looks to score with a jab to the body but ONeill is just out of range.
ONeill throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.

ONeill felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Alfonseca lands a nice short elbow.
ONeill is trying to stand up here but Alfonseca is controlling him well.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Alfonseca connects with a decent looking elbow from side control that caused ONeill some visible discomfort.
Alfonseca has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
ONeill is looking to get back to his feet here but Alfonseca is keeping cool and he's managed to take ONeill's back.
