Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Riley Hatfield (ranked 945 p4p, 952 weight class) and Isaac Vernon (ranked 125 p4p, 126 weight class). Hatfield kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Cruel World- Willie Nelson. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hatfield pivots, looking for a leg kick but Vernon is out of range and Hatfield settles back down.
Vernon moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Hatfield showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Vernon.
An attempted straight right counter from Hatfield misses the target.
Hatfield looks to land a right hand but Vernon moved out of range.
Hatfield is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Vernon.

Hatfield throws a looping overhand right but Vernon ducks down to avoid it.

and Vernon decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Hatfield's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Hatfield wants to stand and escape but Vernon is having none of it.

Hatfield stands and steps away. Vernon gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Vernon bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Vernon has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vernon has hold of Hatfield's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Hatfield tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Vernon cranks the arm and Hatfield screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Hatfield, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
