Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Truman Roosevelt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Ali Berzina!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Lou da Vinci and Bruno Lombardi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Berzina lands a nice hook to Roosevelt's body. Roosevelt takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.
Roosevelt avoids a punch combination nicely.
Roosevelt has been talking about how he's improved his wrestling in the run up to the fight so let's see if that's enough to sway the balance.
Roosevelt throws a head kick that half lands.

Roosevelt decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Roosevelt is trying to work for a kimura but Berzina is defending well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Berzina can do anything to dispel that myth.

Roosevelt is looking for a kimura here.
Roosevelt works his way into side control.

Roosevelt working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Roosevelt trying to control the position but Berzina is working away.

Berzina tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Roosevelt wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Roosevelt tries for a kimura but Berzina is defending well.

Roosevelt wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Berzina, who protects the arm well.
Berzina is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Roosevelt tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Roosevelt has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Roosevelt is looking to take a break and control but Berzina is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Roosevelt has hold of Berzina's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Berzina tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Roosevelt cranks the arm and Berzina screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Berzina, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:38 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Americana). Truman Roosevelt!
