Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Gamzat Gamzatov (ranked 2440 p4p, 2657 weight class) and Daniel Hazlehurst (ranked 343 p4p, 378 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Gamzatov might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Entrance Song. Hazlehurst has chosen Queen - One Vision as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 20 - 18 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Gamzat Gamzatov!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 14 - 0, fighting out of London, Daniel Hazlehurst!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hazlehurst darts in looking for a takedown but Gamzatov gets double underhooks and turns Hazlehurst into the cage.
Gamzatov half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

and Gamzatov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gamzatov.

My spies in Lads Lash Banter Gym inform me that Hazlehurst has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Hazlehurst prevents Gamzatov from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Hazlehurst looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Gamzat Gamzatov has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Daniel Hazlehurst.

Hazlehurst shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Gamzatov's guard.

Gamzatov is staying cool under pressure, defending well against the rear naked choke attempt from his opponent.

Hazlehurst is throwing strikes from the back here. Oh that last one was to the back of the head. Hazlehurst gets a warning from the referee. He throws another strike to the back of the head straight away though and the referee has seen enough. He breaks up the two fighters and stands them back up. Hazlehurst gets a real talking to here and is lucky not to get a point deducted. Hazlehurst apologises and we restart here on the feet.

Hazlehurst goes for a double leg but Gamzatov avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Gamzatov continues to drive forward.

Gamzatov changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Hazlehurst tries to avoid it but Gamzatov manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Hazlehurst to the ground. Hazlehurst escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Daniel Hazlehurst showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Gamzatov enables Hazlehurst to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Gamzatov manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
