The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thorsen throws a poor cross that misses
and Thorsen takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Popkov jabs Thorsen to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Popkov is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Popkov fakes and then throws a beautiful body shot. Thorsen looks a bit winded and takes a step backwards to take a breath.
Thorsen looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Popkov ducks under a wild hook from Thorsen.
Thorsen misses with a left hand
and Popkov counters with a nice uppercut.
Popkov lands a jab to the head.
Excellent takedown into side control there by Thorsen.
Popkov throws his opponent off and manages to get back to his feet! Nicely done!

Popkov bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Popkov throws out a counter right but Thorsen avoids it with no problem.
Popkov feints a jab promting Thorsen to slip. Popkov then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Thorsen slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.
Thorsen darts in looking for a takedown but Popkov gets double underhooks and turns Thorsen into the cage.
Popkov looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Thorsen fails to pull the fight into his guard.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Anders Thorsen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Popkov digs a right hand into Thorsen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Thorsen's gas tank.
Popkov cracks Thorsen with a nice body shot.
Popkov's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Popkov is using his reach advantage to land shots from outside his opponent's range.
Popkov wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Popkov lands with a jab that stuns his opponent. Thorsen is looking to close the distance but Popkov sees it coming and throws a beautiful knee! Thorsen crumbles to the mat and that's all she wrote! Let's hope Thorsen is OK because that was naaaaaasty!
