Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nick Shamrock (ranked 420 p4p, 770 weight class) and Ivan Volkov (ranked 49 p4p, 83 weight class). Shamrock kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is One Winged Angel by The Black Mages. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Ivan Volkov was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 54 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Nick Shamrock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 16 - 13 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Volkov!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Wagner Zegers.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Volkov darts in and clinches Shamrock up against the cage.
Volkov tries to score a body lock takedown but Shamrock shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Shamrock misses with an elbow over the top.
Volkov will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Shamrock up against the cage.
Volkov lands a hook that snaps the head of Shamrock backwards.
Shamrock scores with an uppercut up the middle.
Shamrock scores with a nice hook to the head.
Volkov blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Shamrock lands a left hand that snaps the head of Volkov backwards.
Shamrock misses with a punch to the body.
Volkov breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Shamrock throws a leg kick
and Volkov counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Volkov.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Volkov is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Volkov postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Volkov looking to sit in guard and control but Shamrock gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Shamrock won't allow Volkov to sweep him here.
Shamrock wants to get up but he can't break Volkov's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Volkov looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.

Volkov has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.

Volkov tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Volkov working for a triangle but Shamrock defends it easily.
Volkov is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Shamrock rolls with it to try and escape but Volkov cranks on the arm and Shamrock is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!
