Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Liam Garcia!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Matthew ONeill!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Daniel Bishop and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

A momentary lapse in concentration from Garcia enables ONeill to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Garcia manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
ONeill stays in close to Garcia's body and controls the position.
Garcia looking for a sweep. Not yet Garcia, not yet.
ONeill's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Garcia working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. ONeill doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. ONeill manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
ONeill engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
ONeill is working Garcia over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
ONeill sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Garcia's guard.

ONeill content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Let's hope that ONeill has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Garcia tries to get to full guard but ONeill has control of the leg.
Garcia is trying to control but can't.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
ONeill trying to control the pace.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
ONeill throws a couple of head shots and lands with the final one - a decent hook, which struck Garcia on the side of the head.

ONeill fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Garcia, pushing him back against the cage.

ONeill breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
ONeill slaps away a takedown attempt from Garcia, before circling back to the center of the mat.

ONeill has managed to clinch.
ONeill is defending well against a takedown attempt.

ONeill lands a left hand.

ONeill successfully pulls guard.
ONeill lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

ONeill landing some decent shots from guard.
Garcia being controlled here, momentarily.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
ONeill pushes down on Garcia's leg and manages to get into half guard.
ONeill content to control rather than advance.

ONeill blocks the strikes from Garcia.

ONeill escapes and gets back to his feet.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

ONeill moves into the clinch successfully.
Garcia jumps guard but ONeill stands there with Garcia around his waist. Garcia gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Liam Garcia. That's going to take a lot out of him.

ONeill has hold of one of Garcia's legs. Garcia is fighting the takedown attempt but ONeill gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Garcia wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and ONeill manages to pass to side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Garcia tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.

ONeill moves into range and clinches up with Garcia.

Garcia is trying to force a seperation but ONeill has the dominant position.
The referee is keeping an eye on ONeill - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

ONeill manages to break the clinch.

ONeill shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Garcia napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Garcia is looking to get back to his feet here but ONeill is keeping cool and he's managed to take Garcia's back.
I really don't envy Garcia right now.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
ONeill is hanging on to Garcia's back as he tries to escape.
Garcia knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for ONeill on the ground.

ONeill gets his hands free as Garcia looks to control.
ONeill is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.

ONeill fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Garcia to the ground. ONeill is now in Garcia's guard.
ONeill loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

ONeill stands up and waves to Garcia to follow him.
Garcia shoots in but ONeill avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Garcia closes the distance and clinches up with ONeill, looking for a takedown. Garcia pushes ONeill against the cage but ONeill circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
ONeill tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Garcia defends well and ONeill ends up having to push Garcia into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

ONeill dives in and scores a takedown into Garcia's guard.

ONeill seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with ONeill in particular looking to stall.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

and ONeill counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by ONeill.

ONeill lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Matthew ONeill is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
ONeill has Garcia pulled in close to control his posture.

Well ONeill has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
