PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between jesse baired (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Perrin Aybara (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Aybara has chosen Skinny Puppy Protest as his entrance music. I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Perrin Aybara was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, jesse baired!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Perrin Aybara!
The judges for this bout are Steve Erwin, Summer Carpenter and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
An inside leg kick lands from Aybara.

Aybara fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with baired, pushing him back against the cage.
baired has Aybara pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Aybara manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.

Aybara decides to pull guard.
Aybara has his hands on baired's head, controlling the position.
Aybara is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
baired is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

That's one minute gone in the round.

baired looking for submissions off his back.
Aybara is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Aybara is trying to work for a kimura. He's got his hands clasped together - this could be trouble! No, baired has managed to free his arm - good work.

Aybara is sneakily working for an arm triangle but baired sees it coming and defends easily.

Aybara is figuring out what he wants to do next.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Aybara trying to control the pace.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
baired is not content to let Aybara control the position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Perrin Aybara dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



baired tries to keep at a distance but Aybara has taken the fight into the clinch.

Aybara manages to break the clinch.
Perrin Aybara seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Aybara.

Aybara decides to take the fight back to the feet.
baired with a lazy takedown attempt

and Aybara counters with a shoot takedown. baired fights it but they end up in guard.
Aybara with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Aybara gets to his feet - baired follows without any prompting.

Aybara scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
baired tries to buck Aybara off but Aybara is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Aybara decides to stand back up.

Aybara clinches.

Aybara breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Aybara.
Aybara happy to just control the position for now.

baired manages to get back to half guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Aybara is taking a breather. baired says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Aybara is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and baired defends it well.

baired has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Aybara escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Aybara!
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Perrin Aybara showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


baired misses with a takedown

and Aybara moves into the clinch.

Aybara's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
baired really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Aybara bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Aybara tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Aybara has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Aybara tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Aybara is trying to get an arm triangle but baired is defending well.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Aybara is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. baired knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
baired tries to bench press Aybara off him but Aybara keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Aybara staying calm.

Aybara stands up and we're back to a striking position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Aybara takes a swing at baired's ribcage but misses.
Perrin Aybara is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A nice combination there by Aybara.
jesse baired has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Aybara misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.

And that's the end of the fight!
Perrin Aybara comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Aybara has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
