PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Iron Side (ranked 1080 p4p, 2207 weight class) and Andrew Clay (ranked 164 p4p, 291 weight class). Side comes to the cage accompanied by In the Dark - Vintage Culture, Fancy Inc . These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Iron Side!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Andrew Clay!
The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, George Francis and Wesley Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
We've got one fighter who appears to only be looking to counter and the other not looking particularly aggressive either, so we could be in for a dull fight.
Side fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Clay manages to avoid it.
Side looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Side throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Clay counters with a stiff right hand.
Side misses with a hook
and Clay counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Side just misses with a punch to the body.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Clay has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Clay displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Side throws out the jab.
Clay is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Side with a body shot.

and Clay cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Clay uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Side.
Side throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.
Side throws a low kick but Clay moves out of range easily.
It seemed like Clay was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Side swings and misses with a hook to the body.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Side throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
A little jabbing left from Clay on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.

Both these guys seem content to just stand up and trade with each other but Clay might want to think about changing up his gameplan a bit because over the course of the fight, Side has got the better of the exchanges.

Iron Side is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Andrew Clay's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.
Iron Side seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Side looks to land a right hand but Clay moved out of range.
Side tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Clay was well out of range. Poor timing from Side.
