Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Shu Fang Tzeng (ranked 591 p4p, 2049 weight class) and Bernie Sanders (ranked 31 p4p, 126 weight class). Tzeng comes to the cage accompanied by Mantra Chant. Sanders has chosen Shooter Gang as his entrance music. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Shu Fang Tzeng!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Bernie Sanders!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Steve Montenegro and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Tzeng throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Sanders tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Tzeng is in Sanders's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Tzeng stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Sanders swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Sanders is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Tzeng throwing strikes but missing.

Tzeng is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Sanders is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Sanders has escaped and now he's on top!

Tzeng preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Tzeng has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Sanders can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Tzeng tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Tzeng is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Sanders defends well.

Tzeng is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Sanders accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Sanders drops back for a leg but he's not going to get it - he lets go and Tzeng dives on top into guard.

Tzeng is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tzeng will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Sanders is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Tzeng is aware though and is defending well.

Tzeng wants to pass the guard but Sanders is keeping the position.
Tzeng passes Sanders's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Tzeng wants to pass to mount but Sanders is defending the position.

Tzeng is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Sanders defends it well.

Tzeng is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Sanders is just riding it out for now. Tzeng eventually gives up the hold.
Tzeng is looking to take a break and control but Sanders is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Tzeng is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Tzeng works his foot free and advances to mount.

Tzeng has control of Sanders's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Sanders regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Tzeng wants to control the pace but Sanders is squirming around nicely.

Tzeng decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Tzeng has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Sanders is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Tzeng.
We've been hearing good reports from Tzeng's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.
Tzeng is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Sanders can do to turn this around?

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Tzeng drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

You can see the frustration on Sanders's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Tzeng thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Sanders is trying to control Tzeng's posture but Tzeng avoids it.

Tzeng goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Sanders has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Tzeng but great work by Sanders.

Sanders got a little sloppy there for a moment and Tzeng has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Sanders has managed to get both his arms back between Tzeng's legs - danger averted.

Tzeng is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Sanders's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Sanders's back!

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shu Fang Tzeng.
Well Tzeng has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
