PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kim Jong Un (ranked 4822 p4p, 4890 weight class) and Akira Uematsu (ranked 522 p4p, 0 weight class). Jong Un comes into the arena with North Korean Anthem blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Akira Uematsu!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Yukihiro Shimada.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jong Un uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Uematsu.
Jong Un throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.

Uematsu gets the takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.
Jong Un is looking to regain half guard here but Uematsu keeps moving and retains side control.

Uematsu wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Jong Un, who protects the arm well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Uematsu misses with the ground and pound.
Jong Un seems a little lost for a moment, as Uematsu dominates the positioning.

Jong Un wants to control but Uematsu postures up.
Uematsu creates some space and throws a big elbow, but Jong Un sees it coming and moves his head just enough to avoid the strike.
Jong Un tries to buck Uematsu off but Uematsu is having none of it.
You can see the frustration on Jong Un's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

Uematsu looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Uematsu has eaten all the pies!
Uematsu slaps away a takedown attempt from Jong Un, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Jong Un lands a high kick!

Jong Un throws a head kick but Uematsu moves out of range.
Jong Un fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Uematsu avoids it really well and circles away.
Jong Un slips under a jab from Uematsu.

Jong Un tries to sprawl but Uematsu drives through with a takedown into half guard.

Uematsu is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Jong Un sees it coming and defends easily.
Uematsu perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Uematsu's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.

Well, if Uematsu is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jong Un looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Uematsu is taking a breather. Jong Un says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Uematsu thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Uematsu really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Jong Un. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Uematsu in particular looking to stall.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jong Un is trying to control Uematsu's posture but Uematsu avoids it.

Jong Un is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Uematsu is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Jong Un tries to hold on but Uematsu pushes him away.
Akira Uematsu has got the better of the ground game so far.
Uematsu sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!

Jong Un can't escape the position.
Uematsu sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Let's hope that Uematsu has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Jong Un is trying desperately to improve position.
Uematsu controlling his opponent.
Uematsu with more of the same as he continues to hold on.

Jong Un is wriggling around trying to escape.
Uematsu throws some wild stikes that Jong Un manages to avoid easily.
Uematsu looking to control and managing it successfully.
Jong Un keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

Uematsu prevents Jong Un from getting the reversal.

Jong Un is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.

Jong Un holding onto his opponent's waist for dear life, as Uematsu tries to land some strikes to get him to release his grip.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Jong Un fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Uematsu is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here.
Jong Un steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Uematsu.

Uematsu closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Jong Un is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
A lull in the action here as Uematsu stalls from top position.

Jong Un is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Uematsu off and has taken his back!
