In the red corner, competing out of Rio de Janeiro, with a TWGC record of 3 wins and 5 losses; Holden Gracie! And in the blue corner, fighting out of Tokyo, with a TWGC record of 2 wins and 0 losses; Izzy Fishet!
The judges for this bout are Radbod Blank, Saam Ante and Patrick Alders.


The fighters connect hands in the middle of the mat and we are under way.

We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Our spies down at at Simply The Best inform us that Fishet has really been working on his submissions in the buildup to this fight. Will it pay off?

Fishet is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Fishet is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Gracie slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

We've been hearing good reports from Gracie's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Fishet had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Gracie defends it easily.

Fishet working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Gracie doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Gracie manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
