PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bruce Sidebar (ranked 2246 p4p, 1919 weight class) and Daizen Kuroda (ranked 311 p4p, 273 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Daizen Kuroda!
The judges for this bout are Timothy Bukovac, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Sidebar bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
Kuroda is looking for a sweep.
Kuroda sneaks back into half guard.

Kuroda looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Kuroda wants to improve his position but Sidebar is controlling well.
Sidebar sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Kuroda defending well though.
Sidebar not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Kuroda has been taking part in the yoga sessions down at EFC Gym. Presumably he's going to look for a slick submission... Or maybe he's looking to avoid one.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kuroda tries to roll over but Sidebar keeps him under control.
Sidebar perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Sidebar thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Kuroda's head.

Kuroda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kuroda.
Sidebar trying to control the position from guard on top but Kuroda is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Sidebar is posturing up here but Kuroda has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Sidebar tries to roll out but it's too tight and Sidebar has to tap! Slick submission there by Kuroda!

Daizen Kuroda was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
