Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Idelmar Quintanilha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Tony Stat!
The judges for this bout are Tarja Halkonen, Johanna Lukiainen and Marco Blurström.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Stat fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Quintanilha manages to avoid it.
As Stat backs away, Quintanilha returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Stat lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Quintanilha at a distance.
Stat swings widly with a right hand

so Quintanilha counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Quintanilha is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Stat wants to get back to his feet but Quintanilha is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quintanilha content to stall in guard here.
Stat wants to stand and escape but Quintanilha is having none of it.

Hammerfist, elbow! yells Quintanilha's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
Quintanilha controls from within his opponent's guard.
Quintanilha has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Quintanilha keeps in close for a moment and lands a decent shot to the side of Stat's head.
Quintanilha is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact.

Quintanilha definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quintanilha is pushing down on Stat's leg trying to pass to half guard. Stat is fighting to maintain full guard but Quintanilha has managed to sneak the leg through.
Quintanilha is nestled in close to Stat, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Quintanilha is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

Stat is trying to stand back up but Quintanilha is controlling him

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Stat is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first.
Quintanilha looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Stat with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Stat is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Quintanilha passes to side control.

Quintanilha takes a little break here. Stat wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Quintanilha seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Stat for as long as he can get away with.
Quintanilha advances to mount.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Quintanilha is in the full mount, landing strikes.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Quintanilha shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Stat is trying to defend but Quintanilha finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Quintanilha has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Quintanilha has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Stat defend it? Quintanilha steps over the head and cranks it - Stat is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Quintanilha!
