PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Androval Noriega (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Abbott (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Androval Noriega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Abbott!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Robert Twigg and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Abbott changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Noriega tries to avoid it but Abbott manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Noriega to the ground. Noriega escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Noriega is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Abbott is defending well though. Noriega let's go of the attempt for now.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Abbott tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Abbott has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Abbott flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.
Abbott tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Noriega winds up and cracks Abbott with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Abbott is staying active underneath Noriega, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Abbott gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
and Noriega cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to David Abbott.
I've got Abbott winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
