Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Carlos Marcos (ranked 5643 p4p, 3978 weight class) and Albin Polak (ranked 275 p4p, 222 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Carlos Marcos!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Albin Polak!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Michael Johnstone and Dirk Anderson.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Polak closes the distance and pushes Marcos back into the cage.
Polak blocks an elbow strike.
Marcos doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
Polak gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Marcos.
Marcos misses with an elbow strike.
Marcos tries to work over Polak's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Marcos throws an elbow that misses.
Marcos misses with an elbow strike.
Polak blocks an elbow strike from Marcos.
Marcos tries to throw a body punch but Polak avoids it by throwing Marcos back against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Marcos is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Polak is trying to force a seperation but Marcos has the dominant position.

Polak pulls guard.
Marcos slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Polak is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.

Marcos controls from within his opponent's guard.
Marcos wants to pass the guard but Polak is keeping the position.
Polak keeping moving, preventing Marcos from controlling successfully.
Marcos's corner is telling him to maintain position.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Marcos is looking to pass into half guard but Polak pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Polak is in guard.

Polak wants to stand but Marcos is controlling his posture from full guard.

Marcos working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Polak doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Polak manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Polak drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Marcos manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Polak has Marcos in his guard.

Marcos controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Marcos wants to pass the guard but Polak is keeping the position.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Marcos stands and throws Polak's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Marcos is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Polak's shoulder. That is not cool.

Marcos working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Polak tries to escape but Marcos is in control.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Marcos works to advance to full mount. Polak defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!


Polak gets a takedown into half guard.
Marcos trying to hold on to Polak's head to control him but Polak postures up.
Polak wants to take a breather but Marcos is having none of it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Polak is figuring out what he wants to do next.
Marcos is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Carlos Marcos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Marcos gets full guard.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Marcos holds on and takes a little breather.
Polak has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Marcos is proving hard to escape from.
Marcos has control of Polak's left arm, preventing Polak from doing any damage.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Polak defending well as Marcos loads up on a big left hand.
Polak keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
An inside leg kick from Marcos misses.
The fight stays on the outside here - Marcos looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Polak throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Polak has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Marcos is landing a low percentage of strikes.

Marcos has closed the distance and engaged Polak in a clinch.
Marcos prevents Polak from breaking the clinch.

Polak's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
A jab from Marcos misses.
Marcos swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Polak throws a lazy head kick

and Marcos counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Polak!
Polak bucks up and tries to throw Marcos off but instead Marcos has got his back!
Polak is breathing heavily.

Marcos controls the position.
Polak is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Marcos off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Marcos has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Polak has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
Polak trying to control the position but Marcos manages to sink in the hooks.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Polak is having to fend off submission attempts from Marcos, who is looking to sink in the choke. Marcos doesn't have the hooks in though and Polak manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Marcos pulls Polak in close to prevent any damage.
Polak trying to control but Marcos is working from the bottom.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Marcos is controlling Polak's posture.
Polak stopping the sweep attempt from Marcos.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Carlos Marcos will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Polak has had enough of the clinch but Marcos keeps him there for the moment.

Marcos is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Polak can't fight it off and eventually Marcos manages to take the fight to the floor. Polak looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Marcos slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Polak takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Marcos throws an overhand right that lands on Polak's shoulder, as Polak tries to avoid the shot.
Carlos Marcos is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Polak takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Marcos throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Polak keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Marcos.
Polak looked like he wanted to counter with a punch but didn't throw it.
Marcos throws a jab but it's blocked by Polak.
Polak checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.

Polak wants to clinch but Marcos slips to the side

so Marcos counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.
Marcos controlling from the top position.
Polak wants to stand up but Marcos is controlling him.
Albin Polak has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Marcos is looking to pass into half guard but Polak pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Polak is in guard.

Marcos wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Marcos wants to sweep here but Polak controlling him for the moment.
Marcos has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Polak trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Polak postures up in Marcos's guard and throws a big left but Marcos blocks it.

It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Polak uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Marcos.

Carlos Marcos showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Marcos has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
