PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Luther Jackson (ranked 1655 p4p, 1410 weight class) and Augusto Pinochet (ranked 249 p4p, 216 weight class). Jackson comes to the cage accompanied by Come As You Are - Nirvana. Pinochet has chosen I Need a Pinochet as his entrance music. Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 31 - 17 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Luther Jackson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Augusto Pinochet!
The judges for this bout are Aafke Stam, Paulsen Ambrosius and Nard Betker.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles.
We've been hearing reports that Jackson has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Jackson misses with a takedown attempt - Pinochet sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Jackson rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Pinochet moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

The fight stays on the outside here - Jackson looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Jackson fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Pinochet avoids it really well and circles away.

Augusto Pinochet is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Jackson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pinochet tries to avoid it but Jackson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pinochet to the ground. Pinochet escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jackson has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Pinochet finds it's way round the side to connect with Jackson's head.

Jackson attempts a counter takedown but Pinochet avoids it well and moves away.

Jackson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Jackson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Pinochet feints a jab promting Jackson to slip. Pinochet then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Jackson slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Pinochet might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Jackson takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.

Jackson is looking for a kimura but Pinochet is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Jackson to get the leverage.

Augusto Pinochet comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Pinochet has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

A very excited looking Augusto Pinochet rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
