PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rodrigo Duterte (ranked 3841 p4p, 2103 weight class) and Shakir Khan (ranked 356 p4p, 217 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Duterte might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to Ignition (Remix). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Rodrigo Duterte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 1, fighting out of The Island, Shakir Khan!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, David Hoff and Winston Alpacca.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Khan is looking to slow Duterte down with leg kicks.
Duterte looks exhausted already! Oh dear, he should have come in in better shape than this!
Khan lands with a nice body kick.
An inside leg kick lands from Khan.
Duterte chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Khan can pounce on him.
Duterte shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Khan pinned against the cage. Khan gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Khan only half commits to the counter leg kick.
Duterte stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Khan.
Khan lands with a thumping leg kick.
Duterte has been working on his balance at Walter J Abramowitz Center for Bigness, so perhaps that has help him stuff some of the takedown attempts by Khan.
Khan bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Khan lands with a hook. Duterte tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
Khan fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Duterte has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Duterte takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Duterte takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Duterte looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Khan connects with an inside leg kick.
Khan connects with a high kick.

Duterte is rocked!
Khan batters Duterte with a massive right followed by a huge left! Duterte is out on his feet looking like a zombie as Khan lands a final crushing right hand to drop Duterte to the mat with a gruesome thud! Khan is running around like a mad man after that fight and for good reason!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). Shakir Khan!
