Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Benny Owens (ranked 6687 p4p, 4304 weight class) and Daniel Silva (ranked 629 p4p, 522 weight class). Daniel Silva is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Silva has Owens up against the cage in a clinch.

Owens is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Silva can't fight it off and eventually Owens manages to take the fight to the floor. Silva looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.

Owens is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Silva is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Silva has escaped and now he's on top!

Silva moves into the clinch successfully.

Owens goes for a takedown attempt but Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Owens swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Owens drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Silva gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Owens turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Owens manages to end up in side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Silva is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Owens is controlling him well.

Owens goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Silva has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Owens but great work by Silva.
Owens tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Silva presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Silva working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Silva prevents Owens from getting the reversal.

Owens wants to control but Silva is having none of it.

Silva is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Silva has closed the distance and engaged Owens in a clinch.
Kneeeeees! The crowd are calling for knees to the body. Silva obliges.
Owens is breathing heavily.
A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors.

Owens drops back, looking for a kneebar! Silva looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Silva looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Silva!

Silva uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Owens.
Owens fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Silva manages to avoid it.

Silva rushes Owens and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Silva is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Silva tries to land a knee to the head but misses.

Owens breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Owens changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Silva tries to avoid it but Owens manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Silva to the ground. Silva escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Silva fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Owens, pushing him back against the cage.
Owens goes for a takedown attempt but Silva pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Silva moves into the clinch.
Owens misses with a short punch on the inside.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Owens is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Silva frees his head nicely. Oh but Owens has switched to an armbar! Silva is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
