Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Trash Can (ranked 3996 p4p, 4714 weight class) and David Runesha (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Trash Can!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, David Runesha!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Robert Douchet and Gregory Folan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Runesha throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Can was covering up waiting for the punch and Runesha finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Can keeping moving, preventing Runesha from controlling successfully.

Can working for a triangle but Runesha defends it easily.
Runesha trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Can has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Runesha can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Can seems to have improved his submission grappling technique since last time we saw him. Let's see if he can pull off a submission.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Runesha tries to free his leg and advance position but Can is retaining full guard.

Can really is a fat lump.
Runesha is looking to work some ground and pound but Can has wrist control.
Runesha stands and throws Can's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Runesha decides to stand back up. Runesha steps back and let's Can get back to his feet.

Runesha looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Runesha content to control rather than advance.

Can is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Runesha pulls his head out easily.
Can is breathing heavily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Can wants to control but Runesha is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Runesha really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Can. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Runesha not doing much here.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Can has his hands clasped together around Runesha's back. He's all about the action.

Can looking for submissions from an awkward position here.

Runesha escapes and gets back to his feet.

Runesha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Can sprawls well initially but Runesha persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Can is trying to maintain the position but Runesha is very close to passing his half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Can tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.
Runesha moves nicely into side control.
Can seems a little lost for a moment, as Runesha dominates the positioning.

Runesha decides to stand back up.

Runesha shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Can's guard.
Runesha postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Runesha advances position into side control!

Can defending against the ground and pound.
Can parries the strikes from Runesha easily there. Runesha is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Can to escape.
You can see the frustration on Can's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Can might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Runesha in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Runesha takes a little break here. Can wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Runesha is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Can is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

David Runesha dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action.


Runesha rushes Can and presses him up against the cage.

Runesha breaks the clinch.
Can throws the kick towards the body but Runesha avoids it.
Despite the aggression on Runesha's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Can gets tackled into the cage by Runesha. Runesha maintains the clinch.

Runesha jumps guard.
Runesha is trying to control the position but Can postures up.

Runesha scrambles and gets back to his feet.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Runesha shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Can manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Can is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Runesha is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Runesha trying to control the position from guard on top but Can is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Runesha has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Can wants to hit a sweep here but Runesha passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Can there!
Runesha can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Can is looking to escape.

Runesha misses with a head shot.

Runesha gets to his feet and calls his opponent to stand. Here come the fireworks!

Runesha closes the distance and clinches.

Runesha has hold of one of Can's legs. Can is fighting the takedown attempt but Runesha gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Can working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Runesha.
Runesha is looking to work some ground and pound but Can has wrist control.
Runesha is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Let's hope that Runesha has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Can is trying to improve his position.

Runesha decides to stand back up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Runesha bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Runesha stands up and we're back to a striking position.

Runesha fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Can sprawls well initially but Runesha persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

David Runesha showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Can moves out of range of the leg kick from Runesha.
Can wants to take advantage of his opponent's missed offense by moving into the clinch.
Can steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Runesha. That one must have hurt.

Runesha looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Can!

Can throwing hammer fists to the chest of Runesha. What's that going to do exactly?
Can wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Runesha.
Runesha prevents Can from getting the reversal.
Runesha breaks from Can's wrist control and lands an elbow.

Runesha looking for a guillotine from mount but Can is having none of it.
David Runesha has got the better of the ground game so far.
Can is looking to improve his position but Runesha isn't that keen on the idea.
Can avoids a series of strikes thrown by Runesha.
Runesha takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Runesha avoids the attempt from Can to control.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Runesha lands a shot to the body, followed up by a shot to the exposed head of his trapped opponent.
Runesha controlling the pace for now.
Runesha punching from mount but Can doing a good job of avoiding damage.
Can keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Runesha looking to control and managing it successfully.

Runesha is continuing to stall.
Can tries to hold on but Runesha postures up.
Runesha looking to finish with strikes here!
Runesha sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Can is trying desperately to improve position.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Runesha controlling the position easily from mount.
Can is trying desperately to improve position.
Runesha scoring with some good ground and pound from mount here. Will he manage to finish Can?
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Can wants to control but Runesha is having none of it.
Runesha lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Can hang on?

David Runesha comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Runesha has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
