PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Wayne Gracie (ranked 880 p4p, 3689 weight class) and Pele Ronaldo (ranked 125 p4p, 436 weight class). Gracie comes into the arena with Thriller by Michael Jackson blaring out of the sound system. Pele Ronaldo told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Gracie fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
Gracie has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Marijuana Gardens in the buildup to the fight.
Gracie keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ronaldo shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Gracie counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Gracie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Gracie lands a front kick.
Ronaldo looks winded!
Gracie throws a leg kick which misses Ronaldo's front leg but catches the back leg as Ronaldo tries to avoid it.
Ronaldo needs to keep his hands up - Gracie had a free shot at his head there.
Gracie scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Ronaldo doesn't seem bothered though.
Gracie dips to his left and cracks Ronaldo with an uppercut!
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Gracie cracks a nice hook into Ronaldo's ribs.
Gracie is using his reach advantage well here, landing the more effective single shots from range.

Gracie looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Ronaldo is trying to escape back to his feet but Gracie uses the scramble to pass into side control.

Gracie lands an elbow.
Gracie is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Ronaldo will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Gracie working the head with strikes.
Ronaldo tries to improve position but can't.
Gracie has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Gracie will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Gracie lands a big elbow - Ronaldo is in trouble! More strikes from the mount and Ronaldo is forced to tap out!
