Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Al Reid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Luke Short (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Al Reid!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 5 - 0, fighting out of London, Luke Short!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Sam Margolis and Andrew Berry.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Short shoots in for a takedown but Reid shows good takedown defense.
Reid throws a right hand that Short ducks under and follows up with a left that Short also avoids with ease.
Short fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Short closes this distance looking for a takedown but Reid circles away.
Al Reid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Short.
Short slips a jab and a cross from Reid.

Reid scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Reid perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Short trying to control but Reid postures up.
Short manages to get to full guard.
Reid is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Reid wants to stand but Short is controlling his posture from full guard.

Short keeping moving, preventing Reid from controlling successfully.
Short is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Reid decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Reid scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Reid misses with a double jab.
No luck for Short with that takedown attempt.

Reid scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.

Reid feints and as Short raises his hands in defense, Reid changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Short looks gassed!

Reid stands and steps away. Short gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Reid shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Reid throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Reid with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Reid is looking to stall here but Short recovers full guard.

Reid wants to control from the top but Short keeps moving.
Short looking to hit a scissor sweep but Reid is one step ahead there.
Reid trying to control the position from guard on top but Short is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Reid slips nicely into half guard.
Reid scores with a couple of good hammerfists.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Reid tries to stand but can't do so whilst Short controls his leg.
Reid tries to pass the half guard into mount. Short knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Short trying to hold on to Reid's head to control him but Reid postures up.

Reid stands up and beckons Short to join him on the feet.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Al Reid dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Short tries to bum rush Reid with a series of wild strikes but Reid uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Short is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Reid.
Reid shoots in and drives through. Short sprawls well.
Short misses with a takedown attempt
and Reid counters with a one-two to the body.
Reid throws a combination that misses

and Short counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Short tries to score a body lock takedown but Reid shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Short lands an elbow inside.

Short jumps guard and drags Reid to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Short not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Short looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Reid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Short swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Reid connects with a couple of short punches.

Reid wants to control from the top but Short keeps moving.
Reid has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Short is proving hard to escape from.
Short striking off his back but it's not causing Reid any problems.
Reid trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Reid, as that shot connected.
Reid gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Reid swinging wilding here.
Reid throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Short counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Short.

Reid looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Short puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Short is trying to control the action in half guard but Reid is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Short prevents Reid from improving his position.

Short has hold of Reid's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Reid manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Reid is looking to get to half guard.

Short trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Short wants to finish this one by submission but Reid is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Short.
Short can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Reid is looking to escape.
Reid is really trying hard to get back to his feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Short get's back to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Short or perhaps it was just good defense by Reid which made him look bad.
Al Reid has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Luke Short.
Reid goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Short wants to clinch.

Reid closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Short trying to remain calm as Reid controls from the top position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Luke Short will probably get the nod - 10:9.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!


Short doesn't manage to clinch there - Reid circles away.
Al Reid is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Reid looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Short is fending him off so far but Reid persists. Nope, Short circles away and we're back to standing.

Short is looking to control Reid's arms but Reid gets an underhook and turns him. Now Short has his back to the cage.
Short changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Reid fights it off and pushes away nicely.

Reid avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Short not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Reid slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Short is on top in guard.
Reid has control of Short's left arm, preventing Short from doing any damage.

Short postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Reid is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Short, into his guard.

Reid decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.

and Short counters with a flying knee. Nice.
Reid throws a sloppy body shot
and Short counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Reid is lucky that one didn't land flush.

Reid is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Short's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Short's back!
Reid controlling well, preventing Short from escaping the position.
Short is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Reid scores with punches and elbows.
Reid wants to control but Short manages to buck him off and is now in Reid's guard! Nice work there by Short!

Reid is pulling down on Short's head. It's preventing any offense from Short, at least for the moment.
Reid is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Short is standing up over Reid. Reid looks to escape but Short dives into side control.
Reid tries to escape but Short is in control.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Luke Short.
I think Short has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
