Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Roberto Jimenez (ranked 2622 p4p, 2952 weight class) and Regis Philbin (ranked 356 p4p, 389 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Roberto Jimenez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Regis Philbin!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Philbin takes a jab right on the kisser.

It looks like Regis Philbin has been cut.
Philbin throws a right hand that misses

and Jimenez counters with a takedown into side control.
Jimenez is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Philbin will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already.
Philbin is looking to reverse the position.

Jimenez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Philbin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Jimenez tries to advance to mount but can't.
Philbin is not content to let Jimenez control the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Philbin tries to buck Jimenez off but Jimenez is having none of it.
Philbin gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!

Philbin bucks up and manages to get a nice reversal! He's in guard on the top - nicely done!
Philbin must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Jimenez definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Jimenez is pulling down on Philbin's head. It's preventing any offense from Philbin, at least for the moment.

Jimenez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Philbin gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Jimenez wants to sweep but no luck.
Philbin's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Jimenez keeping moving, preventing Philbin from controlling successfully.
Jimenez looking to hit a scissor sweep but Philbin is one step ahead there.

Philbin wants to pass the guard but Jimenez is keeping the position.
Philbin trying to control the position from guard on top but Jimenez is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jimenez is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Philbin is aware though and is defending well.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jimenez is on top in guard.

Philbin is trying to control the position but Jimenez postures up.

Jimenez stands and throws Philbin's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Jimenez takes a little break here. Philbin wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.
Philbin is looking for a sweep.

Jimenez is trying to get an arm triangle but Philbin is defending well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Jimenez is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Philbin has escaped the position, nice work there.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on Regis Philbin's cut.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Jimenez scores with a punch to the head.
Philbin misses with a body shot
and Jimenez counters with a series of strikes. Philbin will be more careful next time no doubt.
Roberto Jimenez seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jimenez avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Philbin takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fighters circling - Philbin throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jimenez misses with a double jab.
A slow jab from Philbin misses its intended target.
Jimenez dips to his left and cracks Philbin with an uppercut!

Philbin is rocked!

Jimenez ducks down into range and throws a picture perfect right hook that connects with Philbin's jaw. Philbin's eyes stare off into space as he falls to the mat, out cold! Jimenez does the decent thing and steps back, rather than landing any shots to his unconscious opponent.
