Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between James Williams (ranked 4075 p4p, 3789 weight class) and Vitorio Santos (ranked 540 p4p, 515 weight class). The key to victory for James Williams has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, James Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Vitorio Santos!
The judges for this bout are Frank Antenori, Timothy Bukovac and Percy O'Donnell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Williams lands with a nice body kick.
Williams scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.
Williams pulls out of a head kick attempt.
A head kick misses from Williams.
Williams misses with a wild combination.
Sloppy strikes from Williams. Those never looked like landing.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Santos has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Santos fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jab, jab by Williams - just one landing.
Williams fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Santos on the side of the head.

Santos has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Santos there as he acknowledges the shot.
Santos takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Williams connects with a body shot.
Williams throws a head kick but Santos moves out of range.
A little jabbing left from Santos on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Williams lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A punch lands to the side of Santos 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Williams is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Williams circles away and we're back to standing.
Williams throws a nice inside leg kick.
Williams uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Santos has time to react.

Santos is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Santos is still on wobbly legs! Can Williams finish him?

A kick lands to the mid section there for Williams.
Santos seems to have recovered his senses.

James Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Vitorio Santos.
Santos shoots in but Williams avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Williams throws a head kick that misses.
Santos raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
Williams feints a jab promting Santos to slip. Williams then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Santos slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Williams rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Santos moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

Nice shot lands for Williams.
Williams fails to land with a series of punches.
Santos throws out a counter right but Williams avoids it with no problem.
Williams pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Santos avoids the head kick by Williams.
James Williams is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Nice combo by Williams! Oh, that's hurt him - Santos falls to the canvas and Williams follows him into side control.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Williams tries for a kimura but Santos is defending well.
Santos is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Williams wants to control but Santos is keeping him busy.

Santos is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Williams pulls his head out easily.
Williams throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.

Williams is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Santos tries to get to full guard but Williams has control of the leg.

Williams is looking for a kimura but Santos is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Williams to get the leverage.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

James Williams dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Williams throws a right hand that Santos ducks under and follows up with a left that Santos also avoids with ease.
James Williams seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Santos dodges the punch combination from Williams.
Williams feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Santoss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
Williams lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.

Williams throws a head kick that Santos semi-blocks.
Williams throws a sloppy head kick and Santos moves out of range easily.

and Santos counters with a single leg into guard. Williams didn't expect that.

Santos is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Santos is trying for a kimura here. Williams looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Santos wins by kimura!
