PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Clayton Jensen (ranked 4721 p4p, 4862 weight class) and Ken Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Clayton Jensen!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Ken Miller!
The judges for this bout are Bart Greer, Santiago Holmes and Sandra Marshall.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Miller defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Jensen.

Jensen takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

Jensen wants to control from the top but Miller keeps moving.

Miller is pulling down on Jensen's head. It's preventing any offense from Jensen, at least for the moment.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Miller holds on and takes a little breather.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Miller has his hands on Jensen's head, controlling the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Jensen looks to score with a jab to the body but Miller is just out of range.
Miller uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Jensen.
Jensen dives in for a single leg takedown but Miller sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Miller feints the counter takedown.

Jensen jumps into guard, dragging Miller to the mat.
Miller's corner is telling him to maintain position.

Jensen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Miller tries to free his leg and advance position but Jensen is retaining full guard.
Miller passes Jensen's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Miller wants to pass the guard but Jensen is defending well.

Still in half guard, Miller seems content to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Jensen tries to kick Miller off but Miller keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jensen won't allow Miller to pass to mount.

Jensen is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Miller pulls his head out easily.
Jensen is breathing heavily.
Still in half guard, Miller seems content to control.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Miller fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Jensen shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Miller as he avoids it easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Clayton Jensen. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Miller throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Some wild striking there from Jensen.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Miller turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Jensen closes the distance and clinches up with Miller, looking for a takedown. Jensen pushes Miller against the cage but Miller circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Clayton Jensen will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Miller fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jensen manages to avoid it.
Jensen takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Miller throws a body kick that misses.
Miller walks into a stiff left hand from Jensen.

Jensen rushes Miller and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Jensen is trying to pull guard but Miller has him pressed against the cage.

Jensen has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Miller uses from the top position.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Miller tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Miller has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!

Miller is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Jensen has escaped the position, nice work there.

The strikes coming from Miller are missing the target in this wave of attacks.
Miller wants to lay and pray for a moment but Jensen keeps working.

Let's hope that Miller has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

Ken Miller showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. And we move into the final round!

and Miller counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.

Miller is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Miller really has the hooks in deep now - there seems like no escape for Jensen.

I would not like to be Jensen right now.

We're seeing a lot of stalling here from Miller.
Yet more stalling tactics from Miller.
Miller wants to control but Jensen is keeping busy.

Miller has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Miller is riding his opponent, not letting Jensen buck him off.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Miller's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Jensen tries to break free.

Miller is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Jensen knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Jensen for a finish.
Miller has good solid back control here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

I think Miller has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
