PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Barney Stinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kimbo Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stinson comes to the cage accompanied by On the Eve of War - Jedi Mind Tricks. Gracie has a pretty significant injury - he really shouldn't be fighting right now but he's a warrior and he's here none the less! Kimbo Gracie is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Barney Stinson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Kimbo Gracie!
The judges for this bout are John Kavanagh, Bruno Lombardi and Chad Campbell.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie tries to clinch up but Stinson circles away and keeps his distance.
Gracie looks gassed!
Gracie throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Stinson's waist but Stinson gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Gracie off to one side.
Gracie looks for a takedown but Stinson sprawls well.
Gracie fails with the takedown.
Barney Stinson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kimbo Gracie.

Stinson feints and as Gracie raises his hands in defense, Stinson changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Stinson slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

Gracie keeping moving, preventing Stinson from controlling successfully.
Stinson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Stinson thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Gracie can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Stinson controls the pace.

Stinson drops back looking for a leg! Gracie is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Gracie manages to kick Stinson off! Stinson jumps back into Gracie's guard.
Gracie looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Stinson trying to control but Gracie is working from the bottom.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Gracie gets caught flat footed, as Stinson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Gracie can't keep his opponent in guard - Stinson advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Gracie trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
Gracie is trying to reverse the position but instead Stinson has taken his back - oops!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Stinson is staying calm and holding on to the back position, whilst working on a rear naked choke. Gracie is defending well though. Stinson let's go of the attempt for now.
Gracie tries to escape but Stinson has the hooks in and won't let him break free.

Stinson has got one arm under Gracie's chin. This could be trouble... Gracie trying to control the other hand but Stinson gets it free and sqeezes tight - just a matter of time now! Yep, Gracie has tapped out! The fight is over!
